PMJI, but how would you define a selfless deed? It seems to me that any
conscious action is an action on behalf of the desires or needs of the self;
all actions are a result of value. Hence, there is no so such thing as a
truely selfless deed; no altruism. So to profess altruism as the justification
for any action is, at best, a false pretense.
I think there is a common misconception in what constitutes value. A desire to
attain no value is itself a value. To put it another way, it is impossible to
intentionally act without motive, because to do so is itself a motive.
