I'm having some trouble getting the serial device on the Amiga to work
properly for my new BBS program, and I would appreciate any help. The main
problems are as follows:
(i) When I use the set_params I/O request command to change from 1200 baud
to 300 baud while the modem is communicating the Amiga gives me an Error 1
(device busy), and during a subsequent attempt to change from 300 to 1200
it crashes. Unfortunately I need to do this as otherwise no 300 baud
callers will be able to call the system successfuly (at present I only
allow 1200 baud callers due to this problem).
(ii) When I use the standard serial routines at 1200 baud my output comes
out as garbage (lots of @'s and 's) unless I put delays between every
character. This problem is especially irksome during backspaces and
returns as they require an even longer delay.
(iii) I'm using a Qume QVT101 terminal with a Racal Vadic 3451 modem to do
the tests and it works fine when calling other systems. My other question
is what is the correct C routines for dropping DTR. This is not covered in
the manual and we have tried various methods of clearing the serial device
with no avail.
(iv) Finally, I was wondering how to get a Control G to actually send the
beep tone and not just flashes to the screen.
