>>>So, they picked a platform that has only sold about .5 million units, is not very compatible with DOS & 16-bit windows code, and requires a ton of resources itself. Meanwhile, OS/2 is running on over 5 million systems, is compatible with DOS programs, 16 and 32-bit Windows programs, and only requires a few meg of RAM itself (leaving the rest for the applications). I just don't get it.<<< If there were a 16bit version of OS/2 that was one-third the price of the 32bit OS/2 I don't think the 5 mil. OS/2-32 numbers would be large. The fact NT competes with regular Windows and is seen as a Windows OS keeps many people from using it. NT is a very different OS than regular Windows, basically NT uses the Windows GUI. It is also time to make the move to stomp out MS-DOS. I think most companies can see that. Except for games you really don't see new DOS programs, just upgrades for diehards that don't use Windows for one reason or another. I have OS/2 Warp. I removed it from my comptuer after a few weeks when I noticed I didn't run any OS/2 programs. I was just using Windows or DOS. Why waste extra HD space and RAM loading OS/2 on top of DOS/Windows. Even if I didn't have money invested in DOS/Win programs you can't find any OS/2 programs that can match the stuff on Windows. I have NT installed now, but I haven't been using that much either. The extra 8MB that NT uses over regular Windows is better put to use by Photoshop. I can only imagine what kind of messages there would be if the topic of this thread was Autodesk Confirms OS/2 3DS.
