Thomas, The program you are thinking about is called Personal Ancestral File, or PAF. It is a good, simple program for people who don't demand a lot of their genealogy programs. They put out an update not long ago, but it turned out to have some problems and was withdrawn until they are fixed. There are many good genealogy programs for the MSDOS machines and for Windows – and a couple of good, powerful programs for the MacIntosh. The best MSDOS program is The Master Genealogist. RootsIV is just as powerful, but far more difficult to use. But for the Amiga, there are far fewer choices. From what I've seen, Your Family Tree and Origins are about the best commercial programs, and AFT (Amiga Family Tree) is the best shareware or freeware one I've seen. All three of them have GedCom. Even though I was a beta tester for the first Origins program, I never liked its interface – but that's personal opinion. It might suit you fine. The program was very good in many ways. At the time I tested it, YFT did not support GEDCOM and was inadequate in handling sources of information, footnoting, etc. I have not seen the new version of it, and I understand that it is greatly improved. —Betty
