Help! <grin> My A1000 has died. It's got something to do with the monitor OR the chips. It's happened before, but always cleared itself up the next day. I'll be working on it (usually in the CB Simulator), and the screen will suddenly go black. On one occasion, I turned the monitor off, but left the puter on for 5 hours or so. When I turned the monitor back on, the screen was green. I seem to recall reading somewhere that when you get a green screen, it means there's something wrong with either chip ram or the video chip. Is this the case, and is it fixable??? (I'm loath to spend any money since I'm trying to save up for an A4000T when production resumes (Notice the certainty in the last clause — hope springs eternal!)) Now, to the crux of the matter. I'm a volunteer on the CB here on CIS, and I have 2 shifts tomorrow (Saturday). I don't want to have to do them on this kludgy 386 that I'm using now. I have an A500 that a friend gave me. Can I hook up my 1080 monitor and my Supra external modem to the A500, with the same cables I use for the A1000, or will I have to go cable hunting? (I have this insane fear that the pinouts are different and that when I hook up the monitor and/or the modem, blue smoke will suddenly appear) Thanks in advance for your answers. I'll be checking in later this evening (after my online shift) and again tomorrow several hours before I'm due back to work here. Stuart (still taking 10 deep breaths and saying 10 curses to Intel)
