Don, I'm happy to say that I have gotten the BB going again….My initial set of problems arose from my Spectrum card getting unsettled in its slot immediately adjacent to the BB. This, not surprisingly, stopped the computer, Amiga and BB alike, dead. It was late, so I went to bed, planning to fix it the next day. Later that night, my 16 year old son, who works local BBSs with great enthusiasm, decided he'd try to fix the computer so he could check on his mail. He figured the problem had to relate to the BB, as the last thing added to the system, so he pulled it out and started pulling out some of the ZIP chips. He managed to mangle one of them and was afraid to tell me for a while. Thus, when I discovered the Spectrum board's situation and got the Amiga back up, the BB refused to boot and gave only its beeps of protest over its scrambled memory. When my son said "Dad, you better look at those chips there; it looks like one of them has some legs missing," I knew I'd found the problem! So for now, I'm running the BB on 5 megs of RAM instead of 8, having replaced the munged 1×4 Meg chip and seven others with the 256kx4 chips the board came with. I was so relieved at finding that the problem was relatively minor that my son didn't get the tongue-lashing he expected to get after his confession. He does know not to play with the computer's innards again unless I'm there or he learns a _lot_ more about what he's doing! Editing the System.ini file did the trick on the mouse, so everything appears to be in order. Thanks for your interest and help! Darron
