Hi, Nathan–
Rod neglected to mention the zircons in Pacoima Canyon are nicely fluorescent,
as are the bivalve fossils at the Topanga Canyon locale he refers to.
Are you interested in a longer trip up into the high desert? Maybe a 3-4 hour
drive from L.A. is the Princess Pat mine (in the Shadow Mts.?) (NW of Adelanto
off route 395), where specimens may have 4 colors of fluorescence (scheelite,
bright blue-white and yellow, caliche bright orange, hyalite bright green,
calcite dull red).
