#Video Machine
We use the Mac version of the Video Machine with BetaSP, component, for
broadcast. Not news however. We are working with linearly, with analog tape,
not digitizing on the FAST DP/R. Nick Scott in London has told me that there
are sections of the BBC using VM, as well as a TV station in Hamburg. They are
using the DP/R.
There is a very active FAST section in the Multimedia B Vendor forum on CIS (GO
MULTIB). You might try posing your question there.
I worked at ABC News for many years, and I do not believe that the Video
Machine would be the right choice for editing hard news. The procedure is just
too slow. But it is ideal for magazine show use where you might have more time
to put together a piece. Particularly good where segments have precise time
constraints, as you can lay out a time line with great accuracy, and adjust the
material to fit your time slot.
If you have any specific questions, please e-mail me.
