PMJI – I have a EVO-9720 and a VX3 so I was able to try all sorts of TC
experiments. I could not dub RCTC onto a tape that had 8mmTC on it. I've
heard that the difference between RCTC and 8mm TC is that RCTC writes every
other frame, and 8mm write every frame. Therefore, if you try and dub RCTC
onto 8mm, only half the TC is being dubbed over all the 8mmTC. Then when the
machine detects it, it sees only 8mmTC. I'm like 80% sure about this and
you'll want to talk with a Sony rep to make sure. If you must have RCTC on the
tape, I think you'll have to loose a generation. Check with Sony.
