While I believe that there are probably some very good 3D applications already
available on the MAC, I will tell you that if Lightwave 3D does come out it
will be a very good choice. The learning curve is virtually non-existant.
They include "macros" like "text" that will create your object from a
postscript font, create various attributes like beveling, assign surfaces to
polygons, and then all you have to do is color it and animate it. It just
couldn't get much easier (and include the power). Lightwave's layout screen is
very easy to use and gorgeous animation is a snap.
