#Hardware Locks
I have Autocad 12, 3D Studio 4 and will be getting Liquid Speed. They
all have hardware locks. Rather than having them all hang off the
back of my tower, can I plug a 6' cable into my computer, plug the
hardware locks into the end of the cable, then plug the end hardware
lock into another 6' cable running to my printer? Will everything
work fine?
The reason I am asking is because I have 2 hardware locks on the back of my
computer now. A few weeks ago, I had a book sitting on my tower case and it
got knocked off. It landed on the hardware locks and bent my parallel port
plug a little. I want to avoid that ever happening again. I don't keep any
books on it anymore, but I don't think the port could handle another blow. And
with kids running around, that may be a problem.
I have seen a device advertised in Cadence for a box where you can plug all the
locks into, but, if the cable idea will work, I'll use it.
Thanks,
Chris
