Gerard, I am not a very big fan of the board, (I am sending mine back) but I will do my best to answer your questions. << Sound: Does the board replace or augment an existing soundboard? Can it play MIDI files as well as WAVs? Does it have wavetable synthesis?>> Be aware that the sound capacity of the Marvel board for playback only. There is no recording ability at all. The sound output is FM synth, not wavetable. I do not believe that it can play back midi files although I have not tried to do so. << Capture: Does a Hi-8 camcorder plug into the DB-9 connector?>> Sure, if you use the proper input cable, you can interface video signals via Composite, SVHS & RGB signal types. The RGB mode requires that you order the RGB interface option though. << Vendor: If you got the board by mail order, would you mind telling where?>> I cannot remember exactly, if you are still interested, I will look it up tomorrow and let you know.
