Tan, You don't say what happens when you try to use the machine now. Do you try inserting the KickStart disk? Does it try to read from the internal drive (does the light turn on?) Does the power light flash? If your screen is blank, have you checked the monitor connections ? What kind/brand of monitor are you using? I very much doubt that the drive will trash a write protected disk unless it has a manufacturing defect. But, I think you should be ashamed of such wreckless operation of a computer, since you say you have four years experience. Any sophisticated electronic equipment (not just computers) should not be flashed on and off. It is best not to turn off such equipement if you forsee a possibility of using it within the next few hours. Power-on is the most stressful situation a computer encounters. Also, never eject a disk while the busy light is on and then give the drive two or three seconds settling time except on special programs such as COPYDISK. Allen Kirisuk
