If I had a nickel for every time I've heard about a machine being "out of production now" at Commodore, I would not be working 9 to 5. The simple fact is that when a sufficient stock of any given machine is sufficient, and some other machine needs to be built, a line may be retooled to produce that machine. This does not mean that it is "out of production". The VIC 20 and C64 were a perfect example of this. When the C64 started to be produced, the VIC line was retooled to handle it. later, when stocks of the 64 were up, and they got an absolutely HUGE order for VICs, they started them up again. I would be willing to bet that if you walked into Commodore today and ordered 100,000 PETs, that they too would be produced, depending on the current line, sales of other machines, etc. The A2000 is a viable product for CBM, and they are not about to build 10,000 of them and let it drop.
