James, As to the A1000…it is NOT dead, it (like every other computer made) goes in and out of production as supply and demand dictate…and as a matter of fact, another production run was just made within the last month. This was an "unscheduled" production run in that they did not expect to have to make another run so soon after the first of the year. (Obviously, this is according to my source and not "official" CBM information, but my source in this case is extremely reliable). Only make 10,000???? You've got to be kidding, if they don't make an initial production run of 50,000 they'll sell out extremely fast–not a good idea. As to closing the Los Gatos facility…that's cost effective, there were very very few people working there recently (less than 10) and design and development of the new machines was moved to W. Germany and W. Chester in a consolidation move. CBM for quite a while had been losing money, but due to consolidation moves like shutting down the Los Gatos facility, for the last 3 quarters they have made money. Shutting down a building does not mean that the Amiga comes to an end, it means they didn't want to pay rent on the place, nothing else. Yes, your drives and monitor will work with the A2000. Don
