Here are the details (I've already placed a public message on the SIG, and received some feedback, but I need more help): I've had an intermittent problem with my A500 for the past month and a half – the keyboard frequently locks up, and the Caps Lock key flashes once every three seconds. Some Amiga users inform me that there this is symptomatic of a bad chip, and I'll need to get it repaired. The frustrating thing is that my computer is about 120 days old now, and this problem first surfaced with about a week or two remaining on the 90 day warranty period – it only happened once or twice then, and I didn't think it was anything serious. My dealer is willing to do what she can to help me – she'll only charge me for her out-of-pocket costs (she runs an authorized repair shop in New Jersey). We're both trying to get an appreciation of the nature and extent of the problem – i.e. what defective chip, if any, is responsible for the problem, and what it would cost to replace it. Could you tell me, based on the symptoms described above, what the probable cause is (please be as specific as possible), and if there's anything Commodore could/would do to help us in light of the fact that this problem did surface during the warranty period?
