Ray, Sure…you could. But how many folks do? For example, how many other cola's are called "Coke", or how many other operating systems are called "PC-DOS" or computer manufacturers are called "IBM", etc. UNIX is both the name of an operating system, and the name of the version of that operating system sold by AT&T. To the best of my knowledge, AT&T has never allowed any other company to use the word "UNIX" as the name of their product; althought, they have allowed others to say their operating system is UNIX SVRx compliant or compatible. They have also allowed the use of the word "UNIX" to describe another's operating system such as "Ultrix is DEC's version of the UNIX Operating System" (with the approprite acknowledgement that UNIX is a trademark of AT&T). AT&T has worked very hard trying to keep UNIX a trademark rather than let it become a "public" word such as what happened with "Asprin" Don
