Yes — it is 5 years — but there are LOTs of conditions. The author
cannot have explicitly put his work in the public domain. It has to have
gotten out of his control by some set of circumstances outside his control
and he must make every effort to notify those distributing his work that he
has reclaimed his rights. It's very tough to do but the procedure is
outlined in the copyright law.
