True, but if the software, the system, the host, the nodes, the
communications, the marketing, and the maintenance of the system didn't
exist, neither would this forum!!!! The forum itself is people, I agree,
and the software uploaded is also "free" in the sense that CIS doesn't pay
anyone for the data, however, CIS does work hard to make the forums (and
you do also) the type of environment that people "want" to donate their
work to. I agree, the forum itself is the people, you, me, and the
software is a sign of the authors pride in his work, and his desire to
share his efforts with others. However, CIS does make that possible for
him, and both his desires, and the "interests" of CIS are key points in
this "public domain" problem. I just wanted people to think about "why"
CIS might even have "policies" relating to the "competitive" downloading of
data. I have read some of the stuff you mentioned, and realize that
"rumours" are "flying", hence my suggestion that a statement be made in
"ONLINE". Mike
