The magazine in question is just a victim of Atari propaganda. Last Christmas, Neil Harris, then editor of Atari Explorer magazine (and now Director of Marketing or somesuch) was telling everyone who would listen that Atari had sold 250k STs worldwide. Well, suprise, suprise — Atari wants to go public — in their prospectus they have to state how many machines they REALLY have sold. As of last month that was 150k machines worldwide (with 60% outside of the US). While I can't quote my source for a threat of my tongue being cut off, Amiga has sold nearly double the ST domestic sales. 1987 sales of either machine, at this point, can only be predicted by fortune tellers and gypsies. In the old days of Warner owned Atari pyschics were on retainer to the company — I wonder if the new regime kept them on and that's where the quotes on their 'sales' are coming from?
