Amigavideo
Larry,
To jump in here, a few thoughts from someone who's just started using
the Amiga for video production.
I just bought a 2000 and a supergen, and the supergen makes it work. I'm
dumping onto U-Matic SP and the passthrough is clean as a whistle with the
supergen. A few words of caution from a novice though…these folks make all
kinds of inflated claims for this puppy.
Read the ads carefully before you buy a product billed as featuring
"overscan". They consider "overscan" out of the computer box, NOT off the
raster. That's "True Overscan".
Also plan on investing a few hundred hours in learning how it all works.
Most of the manuals have no indexes, are about thirty pages long and presume
an intimate knowledge with computers. You're going to have to learn a bit of
computerese to use it as a tool.
With the supergen, it's a hell of a titler for the money though, if you
can deal with using a limited number of colors.
If anyone ever ACTUALLY comes out on the market with a good digitizer and
some other toys (all have been promised for awhile) it could be a really good
tool.
Regards from a fellow Amiga student.
