Hi Eric, thanks for the comments, hadn't been aware of the bbs, have written to Eric Q. Quankenbush over a month ago and am still waiting for a reply!! I have version 2.03, it's the same # for all the programs, DoubleBack included. I have run all of the programs with the results as I had already outlined, and one more `wrinkle' I may have forgotten in my last message. None of the programs reliably seem to recognize drive df0: as being in the system, ie: shows JH0: and DF1: and even if I hand type in DF0: it responds that the drive is not in the system, which it most definetly is!! My experiences I see are not the exception but all too common, and at the $$ I paid for it all too much!! There are PD/Shareware programs that will do `almost' everything that the Disk Mechanic programs do and without the failures/problems. What we Amigans need is a program like PCTOOLS and/or NORTON that the IByech (my M key sticks when preceded by IB !) world has enjoyed for a number of years. Byting the OPTIMIZERS/UTILITIES……………….VIC 😉
