Neither you nor Adobe have done this because it would not be good to be
publicly known as someone who rips off the hard work of others as general
business practice.
I am told that Bitstream has a "take it or leave it" royalty payment
policy, and if the designer or owner of the font doesn't take their
royalty, they go ahead and make the font anyway, since the designer can't
get them for copyright infringement if they use a different name. Thus the
Bitstream "Swiss" for Helvetica, etc.
