CompuServe Messages

Thanks for your help! I'd left several messages over the past few weeks attempting to explain the problems I was encountering with Whap but I wasn't sure I was making myself clear. Believe it or not I did solve this final one just today after weeks of trial and error. I could not understand why the program worked perfectly when I assigned my messages to RAM:, but if I tried to designate them to my second drive by assigning them to the Volume Name (i.e. CompuMessages: ) on the parameters screen the program would not let me View them. As I said, the ______.MSG file would make it there, I just could not read it. I'll tell you what I did to achieve COMPLETE success and maybe you can tell me WHY it worked. I merely created a Directory on the blank, formatted disk and called it, Whap. On the parameters screen I typed in the 'message' box, CompuMessages:Whap/. I couldn't believe or understand it but when I went and collected some messages this setup worked! Could you let me know why I could NOT View my messages when I simply assigned them the Volume Name of a blank disk, but COULD when I created a directory and saved them within that directory on the blank disk ?
