I have the Supra ST-157n hard drive that uses word-sync. The drive is highly reliable and INTUITIVE! The auto-installed start-up script sets up my drive so that everytime I turn on my system, the hard drive checks itself and fixes a lot of problems (incomplete files, damaged files: equal to IBM DOS chkdsk command). So I never have to worry about problems!! The Word-sync doesn't seem to be any faster than DMA, and it actually seemed to perform a tad slower. For example, DMA will load AudioMasterII about 5 sec. faster than Word-sync will. I was hoping for something AS FAST as DMA, but I don't know. I'm not up on DMA limitations. I know I can read and write to my hard disk at the same time (using 2 seperate programs) and also download into my ram disk at the same time (awesome computer!). Can DMA do that as well? If it can, I want DMA instead. Although I spoke with the company that makes AMAX, the mac emulator for the Amiga and they said they will be supporting the SCSI interface that the Supra HD has installed on it. I also have the Supra Ram 2000 board (upto 8 megs.) and the Supra 2400 modem. Supra tech. support is very good, although a bit more knowledgable staff would be nice. -rad
