Bob,
The "Convention/Meeting Attendees" newsletter idea is still only a pitch
that I made. While there is quite a bit of interest in it, the final
structure and content end is still being kicked around. Some of my
observations to date:
Pricing would be on an hourly rate, since I suspect 30 to 40 percent of the
publication would be standard hotel/restaurant/lounge/services type stuff.
Specific customer or convention information, i.e. programs, schedules,
highlights of speakers, company logos, etc. should be supplied prior to
convention date by organization in question. My feeling is that a 2 to 4
pager would be quite sufficient. 300 dpi laser output, photos either
scanned or screened by printer. (I don't have a scanner yet)
Additionally, local businesses that may cater to conventioners may also
offer paid ads.
The key here is providing interesting, timely and readable information for
the conventioners, and at the same time providing an additional marketing
or advertising vehicle for the hotel. "Customizing" would involve the use
of the convention organization itself, i.e. ACME Widget Convention News",
or some such, with plenty of hotel identity spread around as well.
I've even been thinking of a downsized version of the typical 11 X 17 4
pager, to that of 5 1/2" X 4 1/4". "My, what a cute little newsletter! And
it's got our NAME on it too!" (high, squeaky little voice).
We'll see what happens.
