Ben, Yes, it was a great movie (Blade Runner). While I've only read one book by Phillip K. Dick (who I believe wrote "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"–not the one I read) and didn't really care for it, I have read some of Gibson's books (I read _a lot_ of SF). While I find his stuff very interesting, I also find his vision of the future very bleak and depressing. The problem is that many of the things he writes about could very well come to pass.
