I've seen MultiAd Creator, and have taken it around the block a couple
times. I don't use it regularly. It seems real powerful, *and* it seems
kind of "buggy", for lack of better word. One for-instance: I rotated a
tiff file, and at actual size it looked great, but at enlarged sizes, it
"unrotated" — appeared "straight"; not what you want in a graphic arts
tool! In contrast, and in fairness, FreeHand displays only a box when any
but the original orientation (angle, not size) of a tiff file is
incorporated into a layout. Neither is ideal. But then, no other programs
(meaning Quark or PageMaker) will rotate such objects at all.
I use FreeHand extensively for all kinds of things — including
display-type advertising — and I love the program, with all its faults.
I've said before that if I had but one piece of software to take to the
hypothetical desert island, it would doubtless be FreeHand. It exports, by
the way, EPS, which is importable — in color even — into Quark and, I
believe, PageMaker CE.
Good luck.
Mike
PS I retrieved this message only because mentions of Multi-Ad Creator —
online here or in the trade pubs — are so extremely rare. Any other MAC
users out there? I'd be curious to know what you think…
