I don't know if you are a Tapcis user, but you might be interested in
something they do over on the ROOTS forum. They post their ZIPped or ARCed
catalog in the form which can be used by TAPCIS's catalog feature. Once
the file is uncompressed, it can replace TAPCIS's .CAT file for the forum.
This technique may require more work than you were planning on, but it's
an ideal solution for TAPCIS users.
