Don – What I'm working on at the moment is a general-purpose program with syntax similar to Irv Hoff's FIND54.COM for CP/M. For instance, on my system the IBM summary files are named IBMAPP.DIR, IBMHW.DIR, and so on. On my old Kapro I could search all the IBM Forums for Kermit programs with the command "FIND B:IBM*.DIR *****|KERMIT". Since FIND is not case sensitive (unless you use a switch) and accepts multiple search strings seperated by "|" I would get a display (or hard copy) like this: Searching B:IBMAPP.DIR ***** Lib 1 Blah, blah, blah ***** ***** Lib 2 Blah, blah, blah ***** ***** etc. Searching B:IBMCOM.DIR ***** Lib 1 Communications Programs ***** KERM35.ARC 132B 26 Kermit comm program with VT-100 emulation, MS C source ***** Lib 2 etc. Searching B:IBMHW.DIR ad nauseum. Of course, I can't use "|" on a DOS command line. – Dale
