Joyce, Pam has two recommendations for you re: pre-Algebra. From our own experience, we like Algeblaster from Davidson. We have it for Anthony and Denise. They enjoy "playing" it, and hopefully learn from it, too! It covers: Monomials & Polynomials; Positive/Negative Numbers; Factoring Polynomials and Trinomials; Solving Equations & Systems of Equations. From Sunburst, you can get Tobbs Learns Algebra. This program claims to develop students' algebraic thinking, hypothesis-making and -testing abilities and problem solving skills. We have it also. Anthony thinks that Tobbs Learns Algrebra is more fun to play than Algeblaster. The latter is apparently too much like school-work. Interestingly, on overhearing us talk about this, Denise has just asked for permission to play "Tobbs" on Pam's Apple IIGS. Sunburst offers Lab-Pack's for up to ten students for $195 (compared to a single user version for $65). Pam will mail you a copy of a Sunburst catalog (unless you already have one). Dave PS: I lost the original thread, so I've sent this as a new message.
