Dave – Just found a book at Crown yesterday that you might be interested in, called "Discover what you're best at" (hmmmm-ending with a preposition? "Daddy, what did you bring that book that I didn't want to be read to out of up for?") by Barry and Linda Gale – $10.95 Has some tests about apptitudes rather than interests. I took an interest survey as a HS senior –Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory — (shortly after the invention of fire!<g>) and scored highest in scientific, mechanical and outdoors, so I figured I would repair atomic tractors in the field! Then several eons later, when I was reaching the "seven year itch" in teaching, I took a couple of courses at the local Jr.Coll. — one in BASIC (that's how I got started in what little programming I _do_ know) and one on career changes. Took the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory and scored highest in scientific, mathematical, mechanical and outdoors! Either that says that I'm a stick-in-the-mud or I was remarkably precocious and really knew my mind at age 17! And the worst thing was (given that I was hoping there would be something else that I should (?) do was that the highest parallel career, in comparison of interests, was teaching!! Obviously that blue funk departed cuz I'm still in teaching, of a sort. I plan to take the tests in the book (they're self-scoring) since I want to see if I'm wasting my time trying to learn how to proofread (as a professional, not an amateur.) -Joyce
