I'm still trying to get the Bars & Pipes Demo that I got from Amiga +
Magazine to receive MIDI input from my Roland D-50. This program really
looks interesting but I'm hesitant to buy it due to this lack of success.
I must admit that I grow tired of my copy of Tiger Cub though. Any clues
anybody????? thanks.

Without knowing more, there are too many variables as to why you can't get
the B&P Demo to receive Midi input from your Roland D-50, to pinpoint the
problem right now. However, unless you have a corrupted disk, it is not the
program's fault.
For starters, make sure the input arrow is selected for the track you want
to record on, that there is a Midi In Tool on the Input Pipeline of that
track, a Midi Out Tool on the Output Pipeline of the same track, and the
track's output channel is set to the same channel as the D-50's channel.
This will just allow you to play and hear what you've played. To actually
record, set the same track to Track Record Mode so a red "R" is displayed,
set the Sequencer to Sequencer Record Mode, by clicking on the Record
Button in the Transport Controls, and then click on the Start Button in the
Transport Controls to actually begin recording. When finished, press Stop
in the Transport Controls, then Start to play back your recording. Your
notes should appear in the Sequencer Window.
Also, make sure you have the D-50 hooked up correctly. Your Midi Interface
should be hooked up to the serial port of the Amiga. The Midi Out of the
D-50 should be connected to the Midi In of the Interface, and the Midi In
of the D-50 should be connected to the Midi Out of the Interface.

Since Dominick was so kind to answer my prvious question I'll ask him
another. Now that I've gotten my D-50,U220 setup to talk to the BarsNPipes
Demo, any ideas how to get the pitch bend features to work. I really like
this program so far but was frustrated when I couln't get that dirty guitar
sound to bend!!! If you can show me the way, or just swear that it really
does work in real life, I'll order B&P this week! Thanx in advance. Don

I'll certainly let Dominick take a stab at this, but here's a suggestion:
Make sure that the MIDI In and MIDI Out Tools are permitting Pitch Bend
events to flow through. In order to determine this, double click on each
Tool and assure that the Pitch Bend button in each Control window is
highlighted.
Let me know how you do. We have tons of Bars&Pipes users that use guitar
controllers.
Another thought, Melissa. Some synths (my old CZ-1000, for instance) have
a pitch wheel on them, but do not support pitch bend via MIDI. Does his?

The B&P Pitch Bend feature does indeed work. Double-click on the Midi In
Tool. When the requester opens, make sure it's set to receive pitch bend
events. Do the same with the Midi Out Tool, so it plays those events.
Without knowing more, it's difficult to troubleshoot. If this doesn't work,
call the Blue Ribbon Soundworks at (404) 377-1514, and they'll be happy to
help you.
By the way, if you're interested in the product, wait about 2 weeks before
you order it. Bars&Pipes Professional is scheduled for release then. It's
even better than the original.

I'll take your tip an d wait a couple of weeks for the PRO version because
I am VERY interested in the printing aspects. But I can't wait much longer
than that before I order the current version and upgrade later. Thanx

I don't understand the no succes of the previous message . I think
Bars&Pipes either Pro or not is the best thing now in Music environement
for Amiga to date .
