#Path Direction
9 messages in this thread
Hi!
I have a question about direction on paths; what determines it? I set up
some closed paths and had a heck of a time flipping them over so they (the
object assigned to them) would spin the "other way"….I also had an open
path that started at the "end", and until I "transformed" it I could not
get it right, but then it did….when I worked on the closed paths
"transform" was not the way to go; I tried "rotate" from the stage editor
and I beleive that was the one that worked, but I also tried "transforming"
all of the sections (of the path) 180 deg. individually. Is there a general
"rule" for open and closed path directions so I do not have to play so much
next time?
P.S. Any word on more textures? and/or "routines" (i.e. explode?) or file
conversion from Pagerender 3-D (or should I get Interchange for that?)

Scott, path direction is determined by the direction of the path axes' Y.
A textures disk is planned for mid year release and Rotate is a new FX
which will be included with 1.0A. –Rick
Rick, you mean by the path's Y axis? I will try. Thanx! -Scott
Scott, I can't help you with the paths problem, but I can with the
PageRender 3-D. Yeah, Interchange is the way to go. It works very well,
so I'd strongly advise on getting it. (I assume you already have
Interchange? You'll now need to order the PageRender module for it;
directly from Syndesis I think)
There are a lot of objects I've done in PageRender that would be virtually
impossible to model in any other program. It's object scripting language
is wonderful. And the Interchange module just means that it can to to any
other format easily. Can't say enough about Syndesis and Interchange.

No,don't have interchange, but have most 3d packages! I have resisted it
since I had to keep buying modules…but that may have to change. Thx
-Scott
Interchange also offers the 3D fonts (with InterFont), which has saved my
*ss more than once. Decent looking 3D fonts in any format, color, etc, as
easy as pie. The 'PointReduce', 'SnapToGrid', 'Scale', and 'Statistics'
modules (that work with any format) also come in very handy from time to
time. Have fun rendering! –jp–seattle–
Oh, I am having fun! Even with 28Mhz '030/882 I could still use more
spped; the learning curve is awesome, so time is of the essence. 3 years
invested in Impulse, though is paying off. I am _very_ fond of
PageRender3D and Imagine has grown on me so I like it better than Silver
(which I always liked)!
I will be uploading a 60frame anim (ham overscan trace) that I have been
tweaking….. it looks great so far! Includes at least 6 paths, bubbles,
cycle objects, multiple light sources, etc. Look for it….key words will
include STUMPWORLD (like all our work); it is tracing even as I type (I am
on another system). L8Tr! and Thanx!

John,
You seem very enthusiastic about Page renders scripting language for
creating difficult 3d models. Can you share with us an example? Is the
language difficult to learn for an non-programming type like myself. My
only exposure to Pagerender was the brief description in the last Amiga
World.
