I'm just gonna pop my head in here for a moment and ask a bunch of
questions.
Can the HAM-E 'board' be connected to Commodore's 1950 Monitor?
If so does the video signal go from the normal RGB port, to the HAM-E,
then to the 1950?
Can the HAM-E 'board' be connected to the A2320 display card?
Would the HAM-E mess up the A2320 output like some genlocks do?

The HAM-E can be connected to the CBM monitor. Video goes from 23 pin RGB
port on the Amiga, thru the HAM-E, out the HAM-E's 23 pin RGB port, thru a
23pin to 15pin adaptor, thru cable to monitor.
The HAM-E can ONLY be connected to the 23 pin RGB port. It should not
disturb the operation of the deinterlacer at all; Genlocks feed the system
clock and muck about with it. The HAM-E reads the system signals (like the
deinterlacer does, in fact) but does not modify them.

Thanks for the info Ben,
you gave me the exact answer I was looking for. I figured I would be
able to use the 23pin to 15pin adaptor that came with the monitor.
One more question, since the HAM-E has a 23 pin RGB port, I assume I can
connect my genlock to it instead of the Amiga 23pin RGB port. Then I would
be able to record the HAM-E output on my VCR, correct?

Yes – and no. The HAM-E was designed so that all of that would work.
UNfortunately, a Genlock drives a 28 mhz signal back into the Amiga to
control it's timing exactly. The HAM-E has a three foot (approx.) cable
that this signal also has to travel through, and we have found that only a
few genlocks will drive this line reliably.
You can use an encoder to record the output onto either a standard VCR or
an S-VHS vcr, though; a "DigiFEX VIP" encoder is about $100.00 and will
produce composite, S-VHS, and provide an RGB passthru all at the same time.
I really like mine.
We will have a solution for the genlock cable problem at some time in the
near future; we've already designed it, but manufacturing takes a while to
get going.

Ham-E?

Again, thanks for the info.
It looks like I'll give the HAM-E a serious look.
If I only use the genlock as an encoder (no overlays), it might work.
I'll give it a try after I get a HAM-E. If it works, great. If not I'll
just get an encoder as you suggest.
