I'm looking for some information for a friend of mine. I'm working in the
IBM world and don't know much about Amiga. I would like to know if their is
something special that i have to do if I want to plug an Epson 286e printer
with an Amiga 1000. Somebody told me that I needed a special cable and
special driver. Is this true? Can someone help me? Thank's in advance, and
don't look at my synthax because I'm from Quebec in Canada and it's a long
time ago that I've learn my english.

The 1000 does require a non-standard parallel cable. Just ask for a
printer cable for the Amiga 1000 from any large mail-order firm.
He'll also want to select the approprate printer driver (EpsonQ for a
24-pin Epson and EpsonX for an 8 or 9 pin – I'm not sure what the '286e is)
from Preferences. This need only be done once (for each Workbench disk)
and all of his programs will use that driver.
