The answer to your question is no. The explanation is that with the new
printer, I wanted to print out the manual for Whap! since my other printer
messed it up so badly. However, I have'nt gotten the new printer figured
out right just yet. Nothing wrong with it, I just don't want to mess up a
70 something page document until I have the basics. I tried winging both,
messed up my settings and had to call cust. service to get me back. I won't
get another day off until next week now. I need a good bunch of solid hours
to sit down, get the doc. printed s Where are you John? so that I can read
what I'm supposed to be doing.
Make any chili lately? We could use a bunch of it up here!

Don't worry about Whap! There is a new version already in use, and an even
newer one supposed to be uploaded this weekend. Don't waste any time on
the version you have.

Oh my! Bill, all that work you put into trying to get me started! I'll
unpack or organize all of my notes from last time. Someone told me the
other day that JRCOMM was the best there was. I did'nt know what to say.
Think I can get this version going? Did I tell you that I'm looking for a
computer tutor? I thought I should try to find someone that can teach me
the basics of Shell, Cli, and DOS. Am I right in thinking that if I can
learn these, I will get a better understanding of WHAT it is I'm either
reading from a manual, or trying to do? Like when you and I worked on the
unpacking and so forth. For example, I bought a font program for ProWrite
and it has a System Mover. Well, I can't figure it out. I followed all the
directions but I just don't understand. It has to be a simple thing (if you
know what you're doing) but darned if I can find out why I can't get the
fonts.
I know I'm babbling, sorry. I'm beat and my mind is off. You have me all
happy about Whap!!!! Let me know how it looks and what you want me to do.

We did not really lose all that much. The only files you will need from
the new archive are Whap!, View!, and Params.Whap. All the rest will do to
get you started.
The disk I sent you should have been ready to go. I tested it here before
I sent it to you, so with the three items above, it should work as the
current version as well. It should be a matter of 'point and click' to get
both Whap! and JR-Comm operating.
You have already learned quite a bit more about the Shell, CLI and AmigaDOS
than you think you have. 🙂 All the gyrations we went through before did
that for you. I think you have the basics pretty well in hand.
You might want to practice to polish them up, but you really do know quite
a bit of it.
As far as the fonts go, I can't tell you what to do, since I am unfamiliar
with the "system mover." Essentially, fonts need to be copied into a
directory called, surprisingly, "Fonts" or onto a disk called FONTS. You
already have a directory called Fonts on your workbench, but since you're a
floppy user, that disk is probably getting pretty full by now. 🙂 Put your
new fonts onto a disk called "Fonts" to make sure you have enough room.
Then, you just boot ProWrite in one drive, and the fonts disk in the other,
and all of your fonts will be available to you.

At some point tomorrow, I will try the disk you sent one more time. It
really is bothering me that I can't use it, or that I can't find out what
I've missed in getting it started. I need to have a few hours of undivided
attention, I had that before when we were working together. Don't get much
of it now.
I am so glad that you have so much confidence in me! Must be that I'm just
making it harder on myself than it really is. I really did learn alot from
you and am very grateful.
