I have just started to familiarize myself with ARexx. Although the manual
is well organized, some of the examples have some unexplained syntax. The
manual recommends the book: The REXX Language, A practiacal Approach to
Programming by M.F. Cowlishaw.
-Is this the book of most peoples choice in Arexx? I'm most interested in
books that most relate to the Amiga.

Well, Henry, for now its about the only book you'll find. And it is pretty
good too (covers the same territory as the ARexx manual, but from another
viewpoint). The book does not even cover ARexx, but virtually everything
in it is applicable. Rumor has it that there will be an ARexx-specific
guide later, but for now the Cowlishaw book is it (and since he *invented*
the Rexx language in the first place, it is the closest you'll get to how
things are 'supposed' to be done).

Great! Thanks for the info John. I was looking at an example opening a
window and in the routine there were $ dollar signs. Just hoping this book
will show the reasons for things like that. Best wishes,

I'm sure the book wouldn't say anything about parameters for Amiga-specific
functions like opening windows and such. But if you have specific ???'s
about ARexx stuff this is a good place to ask (particularly with B. Hawes
hanging around lately). I know the experts here help me frequently. ttfn
