To anyone, I am an illustrator with a 3000 and am currently looking into getting either DCTV or Toaster. However, I am unsure as which would best suit my purposes. Currently I plan on using it to explore more the paint programs, and not so much the animation or video desktop aspects. I have DPaint III but find it limiting for me. Is there anyone out there who can persuade me to purchase one or the other? I'm willing to listen to both sides. Thanks, Nyls Rothfusz (a true Amiga novice)

Nyls I just got my toaster for my 3000, and I've had DCTV for 6 months. DCTV is truly a great thing – and cheap too. You can render directly to it from a number of 3d programs ( draw4dpro – Imagine 2.0, and soon, Real 3d )- What kind of stuff do you want to do? I'm pretty new at the toaster – but plan on using DCTV alot with it – to render animations. I'd be happy to help with any possible questions. Have FUN mike

As a long time toaster owner, I would say for your stated purpose DCTV and Caliari2 would be an ideal combination that would set you back about 1/3 or a Toaster price. For your purpose, about 4/5 of the Toaster capability would be wasted. Caligari and DCTV give you the capability to expand to high quality animation if you later desire to do so with no extra cost penalty.
