I think we are just too close for 10 meters. You are only about 420
miles away from me. If you were in Arizona we would have better luck
– why don't you move <grin>. Or better yet, upgrade and join the
jungle on 20 meters! 28.220 to 28.330 seems to be full of the same
(type of) crazies I hear on 20.
There is a group of VERY naughty types on 28.32 that tend to make me turn
the dial. I can't figure out guys like this that can't seem to live and
let live. During the DX Test they nearly went insane that there were people
who were interested in more than sitting on a freq for hour complaining
about everything A-Z. Oh well I thought 20 had all of that. Ok anyhow
check me on Tue and Wed. And if that doesnt work well…. Maybe we will
have to hurry up and upgrade. <grin>

The Prisoner – Yes, I have seen it. CBC used to have that show on saturday
or sunday, about 1PM, if I remember right. Watched a few episodes of the
show, but was getting pretty boring. Seems like there are not very many
episodes, since the repeat rate appeared high, or else CBC never obtained
rights to all the episodes of the show.

listening (very carefully, +/- 2 kHz). I have heard a `0' station on 10
meters, but it was a `G0' station. Another time I heard somebody talking
to an `8' station, but couldn't hear him.

reasons. The one that comes to mind is the complainers are ignorant
$!$%{%^$^ (darn that line noise). What I can't get is the guys who don't
understand how their radios (and single sideband) work. On 20 meters we
are on 14.230 and 14.233, so when we ask others to move up to 14.236 or
down to 14.227, they think we are taking 12 kHz of the band, when in fact
we are only occuping 6 kHz. Thankfully some of the other SSTVers on 20
have some diplomatic talents – I don't!! I am very likely to end up in a
shouting match.
I have never gotten past the jerk on 28.325 to hear the garbage you mention
on 28.320. I don't undertand how some people can sit there and spout off
such forms of abusive language and hatred. They are just showing off what
type of idiots they are, and hurting Amateur Radio in a big way. Wish the
FCC had the resources to shut down some of these guys and put them in the
rubber padded room where they belong.
Okay, will try today and wednesday on 28.330. Looks like I will have to
dismantle the station at the end of the month to move to another house
across town (less than 2 km as the crow flies). Probably won't be until
June until the station gets permamently set up again. Still looking at
options for

setting up the shack. One is to make a building outside (yes, yes, but
costs $$$), another is to do something in the garage, as part of the garage
has a long narrow "attic" space (just one slope of the roof). This would
give a long and narrow shack, but would be extremely restrictive for space
and hard access (will have to take a better look at this option later).
The third option is to use a room in the basement. It is big enough, but
the cable runs are not going to be short – this is something I really want
to address. Also why I want the shack as a seperate building, about 12×16,
6 inch walls, maybe even a very small fire box (though I don't really think
I need any heat besides the equipment – air conditioner is something I may
need).
Will be pulling my trailer out of storage in the middle of April (have to
have it ready for going to Dayton), so will set up a shack in there for a
while.

A seperate shack sounds kinda nifty. I also like the upstairs idea.
Personaly I hate basements. I was forced to live in one for a looooong
time and always opt for the clouds. But airconditioning may be a MUST.
Yes the dirty so and so's on 325 (or was it 320 do need a washing out (soap
if needed) or just rubber room time. Either way is fine with me. 20 has
more kooks but that might just be me…

Looks like it will be a seperate shack. The space above the garage was
only 4 ft at the peak (somebody (not me) needs his eyes checked!). The
room in the basement: Got a much better look at it in the afternoon. Lots
of light comes in the window in that part of the day. Room is only 10×11 –
would be very very cramped!! Should know 100% next week if the move will
be taking place (right now 90+% sure).
Labour for building the shack is free (mine). Just a matter of paying for
the materials. But want it to look half decent on the outside. I think a
hardwood floor is out of the question <GRIN>. I will appreciate having
much shorter cable runs for 144 and 430 MHz.
Air conditioning will most likely be of the open window variety.
Now I have to decide if I shold spend some money on a CD-ROM drive. Was
one advertised in yesterdays paper for CDN$350 – a used NEC CDR-77. Seems
like a good price, but will probably have to replace my A2090A controller
(add more $$).
