#New Name for IM?
58 messages in this thread
Black Belt Systems is contemplating changing the name of our image
manipulation software, "Imagemaster". The reason for this is that in the
United Kingdom, the name "Image Master" is already in use, and we cannot
market our product under the same name in that country.
We would be very interested to see any suggestions anyone might have for a
new name.
We're looking for something catchy, medium to short in length, and easy to
remember.
Any implication of martial arts is also a plus, but not required.
If we choose the name you suggest, we'll provide you with a free copy of
the program as thanks.
Thanks for any suggestions you might have.
–Ben
Why not just call it IMAGE-MATE for the overseas crowd? 🙂
Michael
….from the north coast
I've always thought that products that ended in "mate" would bring to
mind visions similar to the "Fly United" aitline parody posters of
the early 70's featuring two *very* pleased geese. :^) Rather not
have people thinking we're doing THAT to their images, y'see.
OK, then how about:
IMAGE TAI KWON DO
* we'll re-arrange your face any number of ways *
or the more subtle:
IMAGE TAI CHI
(tai chi ch'uan)
hehehe… this is fun 🙂
I kind of like the "re-arrange your face" comment. We might actually
use that somehow. If we do, I'll see to it you get a copy as promised
for the actual name.
soemhow I knew that would be right up your alley 🙂
I'd be happy if the upgrade that I ordered a month ago would show up. (the
office said it shipped on Feb 18th)
Where are you, Michael? anything out of the office on the 18th should
long ago be anywhere in the states. If you're in the states, you
need to call the 800 # and pesterize.
Cleveland, OH last time I checked we we're still on the south side
side of the border. Will do. (It's been difficult to get through
on the 800# lately <g>)
We plan to add another 800 line which will rotary off, for a transparent
expansion of the 800 service. I can't _believe_ how many Imagemasters we're
selling.
<looking at competing software in box on shelf>
On the other hand, yes I do believe it. :^)
–Ben
Would you consider adding 1-800 service to Canada?
There are a lot of Amiga users in Canada, and it's still selling fairly
well up here.
…Steve
Actually, Steve – we DID try to do that, they said ok, it's done… I'll
print this out and have Rene' call the phone co. on Monday. Never did get
back to that, and it never did work.
–Ben
Let's see…"Pixel Fusion", "Image Wizardry"….

"Image Artist"
"The Manipulator"
Well.. Whatever you call it, you should append it with "pro". I't
seems to be a trend in Amiga software that when the price goes up the
"pro" goes on.
<grin> We don't do trends. :^)
Ya know, you could use 'BLAZEMONGER'… 🙂
Or you could Jean Claud Van Dam (or something like that) to sponsor the
product and call it "Sudden Image"
-mark=
– whappity whap whap… whap whap!!
<laughing> "Van Damme". Actually, I'd like to get Steven Seagal, if
possible. Like to train with him, too. That is one talented man (so is Van
Damme, but he still can't act worth caca. :^)
–Ben
"Martial Art Works"
(sounds like the natural choice to me <grin>)
I think ImageCraft is probably available 🙂
Thanks. I think. :^)
You're welcome 🙂 (Just don't later retitle it to KindImage 🙂 )
We won't, I promise. :^)
–Ben
Thanks. A good marketing move to avoid that, IMHO 🙂
andy
Miscellaneous name ideas…
iMage
iMagic
Image Department Professional 😎
Pixel Hammer
Don't tempt me, Steve. :^)
–Ben
Andy!
LOL! I already suggested that in another forum!
-makr=
– whappity whap whap… whap whap!!
great minds ?
andy
Image+ (or ImagePlus)
Image-en (like Imagine, probably too close)
Artistics (or Artistics)
The Image Cuisinart (whether or not this is copyrighted, I don't know)
^ "chops, slices, dices, and purees your images in an instant!"
Thanks, Darin
–Ben
Got some more for you:
Samur-Eye
ScreenMaster
Yan Can Render
Image Star(or Image Shuriken? ;-))
To bad it's not a text editor, or you could call it Comma-kaze. 😉
How 'bout something like Picasso? Or <shudder> Michaelangelo? You
could aways get the martial arts tie in with something like Bruce
Lee's Grip of Death Image Manipulator.
Gee. thanks Steve. "Death Image Manipulator" <yuk>. :^)
Got another for you,
Visionary
According to Websters it means:
Able or likely to see visions…, of the nature of a vision:
ILLUSORY…,
existing only in imagination: UNREAL…, of, relating to, or
characterized
by visions or the power of vision,
and I can't really make out the last one, but I'm pretty sure it means
"able to deliver one mean karate chop!" Maybe not!
I can see it now:
Visionary, characterized by the power of vision! by Black Belt Systems
What do you think?
Bill
– via Whap!
There's already a product from Oxxi named Visionary.
I like it – looks like this is going to be one loooong meeting when we go
over these!
–Ben
Scratch Visionary, Denny says that Oxxi already has it.
Bill
– via Whap!
I saw that.
–Ben
Uh, Bill, I believe "Visionary" is taken…
(thumbing through Oxxi catolog from last year…)
Regards, Whap!penned…
Pat @Oxxi (310) 427-1227
How 'bout Imagic. No karate kicks or anything, but it sure fits
all the other requirements.
Thanks, Bill
–Ben
Ben,
As a Ham-E and Image Professional owner, why not just change the name to
Image Professional for Ham-E, Image Professional for Firecracker etc. IMO
Image Professional just sounds "classy".
Roger
We've heard this suggestion several times, and it IS being considered.
Thanks.
–Ben
I've got it, Ben:
"Make Irving Gould's Mother Wear Army Boots"
oh, yeah….short. Sorry.
tmm/Richard Cunningham
yuk yuk. (^:
–Ben
wow! I just wrote a message in Whap with the same name (Imagic) cept I
fiddled with the capitalization.
You know what they say, "Great minds think alike..", so, I wonder why WE
came up with the same thing! 🙂

Michael
Ben,
Well, of course you should keep part of your company in the name:
The Black Eye
Advertising would be easy:
"It's better than a poke with a sharp stick!"
<ducking> – kev
Yah, yah. :^)
–Ben
Ha!
Considering that the Amiga is somewhat of the renegade computer of choice,
wouldn't Dali' be a better choice:-).
>>>>>Skip( SKP Graphics )<<<<<
I've added it to the stack… but I hope not. I dislike his work intensely.
:^)
–Ben
Ben,
Really?:-( I always liked the surrealist stuff. Not my favorite,
though. I'm somewhat partial to realism but not really to the point that
you can't tell whether or not it's a photo. I'm not crazy about abstract
art at all. A local guy got famous for that stuff. Keith Harring. I
couldn't see why anyone would buy his stuff. `Course, he was even more
famous after he died…..
I'll see if I can come up with more(better).
>>>>>Skip( SKP Graphics )<<<<<
Maybe a "stuffy" way of saying it but a simple one word name, that I think
descibes the function of the program:
Chimera
Thanks, Tim.
–Ben
How about IMAGE BELT ?
– Richard
Added to the list, thanks.
