Ron,
$825 seems like a pretty good price for the Pioneer 6-drive unit. I
have heard quotes going up to about $1300. I agree with Karl that the
drives are rugged and reliable, but they are not for use on a network.
If you are looking for a fast multi-disk drive, I would assume that
you want to put it on a LAN. Am I correct? If so, you should look at the
multi-drive units sold by Online Computer Systems and Meridian Data. They
are more appropriate for network use. Actually, they are single-drive
units istalled inside a chassis and daisy-chained together. In any case,
they are far more expensive than the Pioneer drive.
