#Using Ani Pro

I have a review copy of Ani Pro, but am having AWFUL problems trying to get it working. I have tried to follow the first exercise in the tutorial (cut and paste), but when I complete the exercise the tower on the shorter building disappears. Also I am using a wacom digitizer and the results with Ani Pro are woeful, especially when I select the correct vesa driver (I have a TSENG 4000 with the 32000 chip). What do you estimate is the length of time for learning to produce, say, a sequence of textual slides using Ani Pro? I have logged about 50 hours and haven't a sequence to show for it yet. RE: Animator vs Multimedia Explorer. Another reviewer, who I will be talking to again tomorrow, has MM Explorer, I thought that the CD contained clips AND the program, is this incorrect? He said he received a CD and about 14 disks and got the impression that the CD was clips and the disks the program. Thanks, ALi

Sounds like you might have the wrong ink type set… Can you be a little more specific? C#

Ali, I found Animator (and Pro) hard to learn. Some of the basic ideas were very unnatural to an old Fortran/text/Lotus123 kinda guy like me. If you E-mail me an address, I'll record a video tape for you that shows some of the simple, "get off the ground" things. Your 50 hours makes sense to me, especially if you are struggling with your hardware (which I can't help you with). If you were shown what you're doing, it would be about 3-4 hours, I suspect.

I am based in Australia, maybe it would inconvenient to you to send the tape, however I do have access to NTSC. I am at: Box 972G MELBOURNE GPO VIC 3001 AUSTRALIA. I would appreciate any help, I'm an animation buff from way back. Ali

I don't think the 50 hours is necessarily that bad. I did the tutorials first and I think they took quite a while, especially with experimentation. Did you say you had completed the tutorials? I also use 3d studio and, even though I've had it for a year and use it practically every day, I'm still learning new tricks. I personally work better in 3d than in 2d (animator pro). Do you have 3d studio? I have toyed with the idea of moving to "OZ" once my animation skills are sufficient. I now live in southern California, USA but I'm English and have relatives living in the Sydney area. How's the economy for that line of work?

I found Animator the MOST difficult program I ever used. I am a old hacker from way back with about 200 disk worth of software at present. The problem is the various modes and functions that can be on at once. I've used it for about two years (probably 2000 hours). I've tried EVERY other paint\animator program and it is my favorate. Try PC ANIMATE PLUS ($149 at EGGHEAD software) for a change. They took the best of Animate and fixed several confusions. However 1.0 has too many bugs! In contrast in 10 Hours in 3DS I produced several complex animations.
