S-Video for 500?
2 messages in this thread
I have recently purchased a 500-series Amiga which I am considering
upgrading heavily in the next year. One of the reasons for the initial
purchase was the NTSC syncing that is the Amiga hallmark. I have recently
been intrigued by the possibility of using a television monitor with the
S-Video (Y/C) connector as a high-resolution monitor, and finally seeing
the 550-650-700 lines of resolution the manufacturers tout so much, yet we
never see. I am seeking an adapter that plugs into the Amiga's video port,
and that will drive an external television via the S-Video connector at
resolutions up to 650 horizontal lines (700 would be more desirable). I
have been shown a sealed box with an adapter that will drive up to
Super-VHS resolutions, but since that is 425 lines at best I was soundly
unimpressed, and the vendor was not willing to open it to check the manual
on the specifications.
Is there such an item out there (S-Video, 650 lines of resolution,
plugs into the video port), and who would make? Also, what would it cost
if it did exist? Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
Peter.
