First, while I agree that few people bought SBPro4 to balance a
checkbook, I bet NOBODY bought a C compiler to print Hello World on the
screen either, but you have to start somewhere, right ?
I, for one, would welcome screen templates and programming examples that
illustrate the features of SBPro4. Two volumes is a lot to read through
and it's easy to miss things. I wouldn't consider anything I can learn
from as trivial.
Speaking of missing things, I seem to recall a passing comment in a
message about scrolling transaction lines. I can't seem to find this in the
manual, and it sounds useful. Can you tell me where to find this, or give
me some more info on this feature. If not I'll try to find the message and
ask the poster.
Finally, what is Oxxi's position on posting, or for that matter
publishing DML code, and screen templates ? If users wish to post their
tips, tricks and examples in this forum, do we need to add copyright info ?

Roger, we're quite happy to have users post tips, tricks and techniques,
right up to the complete-code level, in this forum. What I usually
recommend is that you first send the code to me in E-Mail in compressed
form, and I'll compress and vet it, then post it to the forum library.
I have been told that a "Superbase Programmer's Handbook" is supposed to be
published by Bantam (actually, it was supposed to have been out last month,
but I haven't seen it yet.) While this is primarily intended for the IBM
Windows version of the product, much of the DML programming discussion is
portable. The original author of the work said he felt about 60% of the
general discussion and 80-90% of the DML code would be applicable to the
Amiga version.
Maybe Darin, who pops in here from SPC on a regular basis, has heard more
about this tome…(rubbing magic lamp vigorously)
I'll hunt down the reference to scrolling transaction lines in my
downloads, and send it to you in E-Mail.

Is this book "Superbase Programmmer's Handbook" the same as Fred
Dangledish's "Superbase SuperCharged"? If so he is also suppose to be
coming out with a new more basic book geared more to Forms instead of DML,
don't know when it is due out though…
I believe I was the one who made mention of scrolling transaction lines,
I got that info from the same book "SuperBase Supercharged".

Yes, the Bantam book is based on Fred's "Superbase SuperCharged", updated
for the Windows/1.3 version of Superbase. Fred is the one who told me
about the proposed February release of the book.
He promised to send me a copy of "Superbase SuperCharged", but I haven't
seen it yet — maybe when I get it, I can start sounding like an expert,
instead of the slightly-confused "Help, Darin! Help" messages of the
present.

Yes I have the Superbase supercharged book but I do hope the price comes
down withj bantam. I do not know what they are charging but It cost me
over $70.00 ordered from Fred. It is a very good book with msdos example
disk included. all the files and dml transfer to the amy with cross-doss
(well not that simple they come on HD disks). I have a friend who is
suppose to be working on a program to convert the forms (which are not
amiga compatable :-< ). Did he say anything re a book for superbase 2?

No, but Fred is planning a series of "mini-manuals" to cover specific
topics with Superbase. I suppose the topics covered will depend on
reader/purchaser demand — so it might be an idea to drop him a line or
give him a call about the demand for Superbase 2 support.
BTW, Superbase Personal _4_ is in the works… We just sent out the first
Beta issue for testing. My next task after my CompuServe stint today is to
take a look at it for our Development dept. I'll report on it here,
probably Monday.
