#Video Input Software?

Hi! I'd like some help on a certain matter, which is I would like to get
started on doing some simple graphics work on my A500. Specifically, what
means are there to take some input, such as from a Video Camera, or a VCR
and create still frame images, similar to the ones upload in the libraries
here? I have many fine pictures I'd like to upload, but I 1:Can't afford to
buy a scanner for this purpose. 2: Can afford to buy software for such a
purpose. Also, looking for method(s) to take these files, once I have a way
of creating them, and making them into GIF file format as well as the
Amiga's formats. Thanks for all your help,

I suggest either using a Digiview or a DCTV unit to digi(if ya don't need
color pics use Digiview as it's cheaper) For a Nice Camera ya might wanna
look at the Canon Xapshot still Video camera As for conversion to gif I
believe there are a few PD prgs to do this around
Peter, thanks for your help! I have a sutiable camera already, so that's
not a problem. I take it Digiview is monochrome only, so do you have any
idea of the price range of the DCTV unit? I did find the PD programs in the
libraries which will convert Amiga pics to GIF format, and vice-versa.

Randall, Digiview can be used for slow scan color digitizing with a black +
white camera and a color wheel attached to the camera. You can use a color
camera if you can get the output in RGB form. Usually the B+W camera and
color wheel will give you higher resolution. I don't know about Canon
Xapshot. DCTV has a high quality slow scan color digitizer that uses a
composite signal. It sells for around $400. There are also real time
digitizers (framegrabbers) like the toaster and the GVP ImpactVision 24
board. These are pricey alternatives but they also have other features
that make them worth the bucks. Definitely look at image processing
software like Imagemaster from Black Belt Systems for enhancing your
digitizing and total format conversion. Good Luck.

DCTV is usually $399 Mail order but it is a Digitizer AND 24 bit(psuedo 24
bit) color Frame Buffer.Digiview is a Mono Digitizer but it can
do color using red,Green Blue gel in a 3 pass digitizing or ya could use a
color splitter.Good luck getting DCTV it seems they sell em out as soon as
they get em in stock,I hadda wait 3 weeks to get mine from Creative
Computers
