#AdSpeed, etc?

Hi everyone, I have a request for some info, if I may. I have an A500,
bought new on Jan. 1 1991. (Happy first B-Day to my machine tomorrow! ;> )
Anyway, I have seen a lot made lately of the need for an accelerator on
many new Amiga games, over in AmigaArts. Thus I am now interested in an
AdSpeed chip (device?) for this unit. Some questions, how much speed does
this unit ad, what is it's approximate cost, is it user installable, and
what if any experiences might any of you have had with this unit? Also, are
there others which are better or??? Thanks very much for all the help,
Randy
Randall,
For the price(about $210 mailorder), the ADSpeed is a good choice. My
amiga runs at about 2.5 times the speed as a stock unit with the ADSpeed.
It is fairly easy to install, if you are not handy at this you might want
to find someone to do it for you.
Other accelorators such as the Mega-Midget Racer run much faster since they
use a faster clock speed and the 68030 processor, and can use 32bit ram,
the draw back is that they are much more expensive, typically $400 without
32bit ram.
In addition, I have heard that some games may not run properly under the
68030 chip, but since I don't run any games on my amiga I wouldn't know
this for sure, and it maybe hearsay.

Rick, thanks for the info. I have been debating what accessory to add to my
A500, and this appears to be the next on the list. So many things to add,
so little $$$. :>
