3D studio and HyperChem

Greg,
A week or so ago you were asking about what HyperChem could produce that
would make for interesting 3DS work. I'd love to answer, but know zero
about 3DS in practice. What kind of criteria are you looking for in this
kind of stuff? If you could give me some thoughts along those lines then I
may be able to contribute something.
Animation with HyperChem has lots of possibilities, I think. Viewing
chemial processes taking place is something there is quite a demand for,
both in the classroom and from researchers. Plus it looks neat.

Tom, sorry for the delay in answering your msg.
What would I would like to see from hyperchem to 3ds might be in the form
of a dxf file or .3ds file(maybe fli). some way to move the chemical that
I am viewing into one of the other Adesk MM products. unfortunately you
more than likely know more about 3ds than I do about chemistry (which is
not much, it ends at being able to read a periodic chart)
what I was thinking was along the lines of, let me know if this is too far
out, being able to create a presentation (business or educational) where by
the chemical process could be animated and "annotated". the annotation
would be in the form of a text "balloon" that explains the process
merits/de-merits. if just the animation was saved into an Animator Pro
fli or .flc file then you could use Ani Pro to annotate the chemical using
the titling features and tools available in Ani Pro. there is also the
possibility that this could be used to point out problems or whatever. in
regard to 3ds… would "walking around" or moving "into" the chem. be
useful ?. 3ds provides ways to scale things, have cameras moving around the
object instead of moving the object itself, etc
humm ….I might have to think about this more… But like you said, It
looks real neat!
