#3ds/dealer support

John: I read your comment about your 3ds dealer…there are a lot of people
out there who just sell the software, but don't use it, thus don't know it
as well as they could. I don't know where you are located, but if you
would like to ask any questions of my dealership, please feel free to call
at (303)841-6939. We are architects using the program extensively in our
own work and for others wishing modeling/rendering and video production
services. Theodor Grossman, TAG Associates 73417,2322
Theodore – When Release 1 came out, I was in the middle of doing a Trade
show video for a lighting control company in Animator. The dealer locally
(Salt Lake City) claimed to know a lot about it. After 2 days
(grinding through the tutorials <G>) it appeared that I was at his level.
Several weeks went by and the dealer was calling me for information and ideas
(of course all gratis). Now the guy left the company and NO ONE has contaced
me regarding who to contact now. (2 Calls have not been returned and since
I'm not really doing a whole lot, I havent pressed it).
Now I feel that I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. My first
animation actually placed third in the 1991 Cadalyst awards (I was proud –
the first time I'd done _any_ animation). But since then, I've only had 1
other paying client (luckily I do Paradox/Novell consulting). Yet the
dealer still appears to using me as a reference ( I still get occasional calls
about the dealer and 3DS).
Luckily I monitor this form. I feel I get more for my money on the support
received here than from the dealer. Unfortunately, it appears that I need
to go through my local dealer to update (sigh). I'm not really concerned
about support, just avalibility and the little things (like when my dealer
DID update me to 1.01).
Since Salt Lake City dose not appear to be a hot bed for animation, I guess
it will just have to be a hobby – therefore all of this may be for not…..
Thanks for the intrest -Wig
