David, I took your advice and upgraded to 2.1 hoping to cure the problem. 2.1 is nice and fixed a few other things like rescanning the scsi drives but still no luck with the serial port. Neither the dealer, nor C= tech support have been much help. This is especially frustrating since I think that the solution will prove to be simple. To refresh your memory – My A3000 under V2.1 seems to function normally. If I install the software that came with the 2232 multi serial board then the system not only cannot access the new ports but also believes that the native serial port is "in use". Trying to access the multi serial board without the included software does not work either. The 2232 came with a new version of the mount command that understands two additional parameters: one for baud rate and one for port setup (8N1 etc.) Also included are the following: serial.device, port.handler, aux.handler. The software included with the 2232 are all WB1.3 era programs and may be part of the problem. The system cannot access the 2232 board under V2.1 that I can figure out. And if the supplied software is installed then the system cannot find any of the serial ports, including the native one. Any Ideas? Patrick

Try something for me. Look in you 2.1 Install disk. There should be a directory called 2232. Copy the port.handler and aux.handler to L: reboot the system and try the 2232, let me know if that solves the problem. It is possible that the install program did not install the port handler or aux handler when it added the 2232 serial device. Also do you have oldser.device in devs: ? Greg, I appear to have part of Patrick's problem with the A2232 card. I'll be experimenting with that solution myself! Sincerely, (Mr.) Gayle Lee Fairless 'Perfessor Fearless' from the Rocket City!

Patrick, I appear to have the same problem with the A2232 that you do. Hope we can get it fixed! Sincerely, (Mr.) Gayle Lee Fairless 'Perfessor Fearless' from the Rocket City!
